BT is our brand of the month. Not because recent work is the most creative. Because they made one of the boldest positioning decisions of the year.

BT is our brand of the month. Not because recent work is the most creative. Because they made one of the boldest positioning decisions of the year.

In May they effectively reversed years of strategy and put the BT brand back at the centre of consumer communications, launching their biggest marketing push in over a decade.

That's not a campaign.

That's a positioning correction.

For years BT had pushed consumers towards EE.

Then they looked at the market and realised something important:

Trust had become more valuable than modernity.

The market is anxious.

AI is everywhere.

Scams are rising.

Infrastructure matters again.

People want reliability.

So BT stopped trying to look like the future and started owning what it already was:

Britain's communications backbone.

The campaign leaned into heritage assets like the speaking clock and red phone box while reframing them around modern connectivity and cybersecurity.

That's good positioning.

Not inventing.

Reclaiming.
