Work — Thrift+
Thrift+.
Brand positioning, 2021 - present. Led by Gellan Watt as Chairman, through White Bear.
thrift.plus ↗01 — The situation
Resale was crowded with platforms built for people who enjoy selling: Depop, Vinted, eBay, all asking you to photograph, describe, price and post. Thrift+'s real competition wasn't other resale sites. It was the bag of clothes sitting in the cupboard, from people who knew they should sell but couldn't face the hassle.
02 — What everyone said
The category sold the thrill of the find and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Every platform, however different underneath, put the same job on the seller.
03 — Where we put them
We love pre-loved.
Not the seller doing the work. Thrift+ doing it for them. Send a bag; Thrift+ authenticates it, photographs it, sells it, and splits the proceeds between the seller, their charity of choice, and the business. The apathetic middle everyone else was ignoring became the opportunity.

04 — The sacrifice
Giving up the DIY resale crowd who enjoy the process, the people other platforms are built for, to go after people who don't want to do it at all.
05 — What it changed
The rebrand and storytelling gave Thrift+ more distribution with retail partners and more interest from investors, alongside a genuine lift in consumer attention.
